Asbestos Surveys
Merryhill Asbestos Testing and Consulting is the company’s asbestos surveying, asbestos sampling and asbestos consultancy division. We carry out management and refurbishment/demolition asbestos surveys, under the guidance of the Health & Safety Executive’s HSG264 guidelines for surveying, sampling and assessing asbestos containing materials. There are two options for asbestos surveys; |
 |
Management Surveys |
This survey is conducted to all reasonably accessible areas and involves sampling of suspect materials to determine the presence of asbestos, the results of this survey will usually form the basis of an asbestos register and management plan.
|
Refurbishment/Pre Demolition Surveys |
These surveys are conducted prior to major refurbishment and demolition and aim to identify asbestos as much as reasonably practicable within the fabric of the building, planning is essential to ensure adequate access and equipment is in place to reach hard to access areas.

 |
We are accredited by UKAS (No. 371) to 17020:1998 for asbestos surveying and sampling. UKAS is the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, and audit Merryhill on a regular basis to make sure that the surveys we provide are accurate, fully within legislation and independent. Although our group offers an asbestos removal service, which a survey may recommend, we note that other companies also offer this service. |

Asbestos Registers, Management & Consultancy
Non-domestic premises must by law have been checked for ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials). This information must then be recorded in an asbestos register and be maintained on site for the entire life of each building. The register must be made available to those people with an interest who request to see it, for example to any visiting contractor such as electricians or plumbers, in order that accidental exposure can be prevented. The register should be periodically updated. |
Merryhill are able to advise you on the setting up of your asbestos register, how to present and manage the information, or how it can be managed on your behalf. We can also undertake periodic reviews and analysis of your ACMs to ensure that your register remains up to date and valid. |
